Judge says Alcoholics Anonymous is a religion

A US judge has ruled that Alcoholics Anonymous is a religious group.

An AA member confessed at a meeting that he killed two people and was convicted of manslaughter.

The district judge in White Plains, New York, has classed statements made at the meetings as confidential religious confessions and has overturned the conviction.

Paul Cox, 33, served seven years for murdering a man and his wife in 1988.

The district attorney has appealed against the decision, reports The Guardian
